Mukthi'sJournal

my day to day life.

The Big Buddha. This, hands down was the best thing I have experienced so far in Hong Kong!

The Gondola Ride. Riding over massive mountains of lush green forest was a site to see! It was rainy and gloomy but made it all the better. Being able to see the Big Buddha off in the distance was… peaceful. This 30 minute ride got me extremely excited to get to the main concourse.

The whole area reminded me of Tirupati (the main temple city of India). Tirupati is about 1000 times more massive and impressive, but just the atmosphere of the place was calming.

The Big Buddha. Walking up a huge flight of stairs while this enormous statue is piercing down on you was truly intimidating. It was like Siddhartha was judging me himself. At this point it was pouring heavily so I didn’t get to enjoy the statue as much. Nevertheless, it was beautiful.

The Po Lin Monastery. This structure itself wasn’t impressive (been to too many temples all across India, a little sick of them to be honest) but as mentioned before, the atmosphere was what captivated me. I am not a religious person and don’t believe in many things.

One of my least favorite topics to talk about is religion. I can never clearly articulate my view. It’s different and people don’t understand. So they get threatened by it. It is really tough being Indian because culture and religion go hand in hand. I can celebrate the Hindu holidays without being religious but people don’t get that. I can wear an Om necklace and tattoo it on my arm without being religious but people don’t understand that. (Education my friends).

I took some time to myself and sat. Reflected. Didn’t need GOD or whoever to guide me. I just sat. Thought about things and let some frustration/stress out (frustration and stress = tears for me. So irritating and inconvenient). This was a really good decision on my part. I left the place more relaxed and also a little homesick. I hope to visit more places like that. I look forward to the next three weeks here, but I also can not wait to be back home!

Until next time…
