I am supposed to be studying… but what better day than today to talk about my year? At least then I can say that I did something semi-worth while. Honestly, so many great things have happened this semester that it makes up for my lack of excitement on 12/12/12. This has been the most stressful semester yet, and it is still not over. I don’t brag about being a McCombs student for nothing. At least I am enjoying every minute of Supply Chain and couldn’t have hoped for a better career path.

SEATTLE - BOEING After the stressful few weeks of recruiting, interviewing, and rejection emails, I get an offer to interview with Boeing. A phone interview. PHONE INTERVIEWS = DEATH to put it simply. I couldn’t play off of my interviewer, gage how they were feeling, my words just stumbled out, and plus the CALL DROPPED. At this point I knew I was hopeless. This was my number one choice and I just knew I blew it… But a few weeks later, I get a call about Boeing officially extending an offer and I was beyond words! (And let me tell you, that paycheck is pretty damn nice too).

After that, all I have been hearing about Seattle are great things! I am super excited for the summer and cannot wait to get my life started. I hope they call me back for a full time offer! I could see myself working there for a few years… but lets get through this first.

TEXAS 4000 for CANCER For years I have known many people who have been part of this organization and couldn’t be more jealous. I mean… riding about 4600 miles from Austin to Alaska in 70 days on a bike in efforts for Cancer research is not a small thing. Spending the year of and the year before raising a minimum of a dollar per mile, training and reaching out to the community isn’t a small thing. My first years here I didn’t thing much about it. I knew I had many other commitments during my summers - studied abroad this, and then my internship next! It wasn’t until I talked to my friend who told me I would still be allowed to ride the summer after I graduate. This gave me hope, but I had to make a decision quick. The deadline for applying was a few days away and I had no clue if I was ready to make this commitment. It was also an issue of whether or not my future employer would let me take a few months off even before I got to work! These opportunities literally only come around once in a lifetime, and I couldn’t back out. I hounded Mars for days to help with my application since he is now an alumni to the organization! I tried to get some information out of Omar, who interviewed me, still no luck. Weeks later, I get a call from Alex, he starts talking about some potluck plans (which we still haven’t had by the way) … I was slightly annoyed since I was expecting a call from T4K. Just as our conversation was ending, Alex says, “So… what are your plans for the summer of 2014?”

I still have no clue what I just got myself into but I am excited to find out. Just as I end my journey here at UT, I will be starting a new one with T4K! I am honored to be part of such an organization. I am excited to get to know all of my teammates.

For any of you who are reading this, I would love to dedicate my ride for anyone you know who has been affected by this disease. I promise to keep blogging about my journey as it progresses. We just got fitted for our first jerseys a few days ago, so we are well under way!

THE WOODLANDS My parents just recently stepped up and bought a home in The Woodlands, and its gorgeous! It is the classiest home I have seen. I am so excited for them and all that they have overcome in their lifetimes! Couldn’t image the hardships they had to face growing up, but they fought through it. I cannot wait to go back home and see it completely moved in. Party soon?

FINALLY My brother proposed today! FINALLY. They are in Chicago right now where Tosa grew up! I am extremely happy for him and so glad that he is finally was able to do it! And what a relief that I actually like her! Haha! I have no words other that I am extremely happy for those two! I remember two years ago when we were on our way to India, my brother told me on the plane that he was planning this, WOW time flies! Congratulations! I love you so much and you deserve the best. Can’t wait to get all dolled up in my Indian clothes!

All in all, I have met many people and done many new things this past year that this post cannot even begin to cover. I feel like I grow and grow each year, but this one especially has been a major point for me. Thank you to all of you that have supported me along the way… I’m going to need it a lot more from now on so keep it coming!

I got naturalized as an American Citizen today. Pretty exciting! I get to have the many perks Americans get: get to travel without issues, better jobs, scholarships, student loans etc. etc. AND best of all, I get to vote for Obama in a few days!

I feel really weird though, as if this huge part of me has been taken away. Striped.

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to be American. This country has given my family and I an amazingly comfortable life for the past 12 years.

I keep telling myself that I am still Indian. Everything about me is. Of course. No question. BUT I guess I am just bitter… “officially” I am not.

… I’m sure I’ll forget about this right after the election, go back to my awkward American-Indian life and keep trekking.
